Bellafonte controls the wild bull on No Coast

Maybe the most straight-ahead pop song on Bellafonte's No Coast, its newest EP release, "Junas" still hits a fork in the road around the two and a half minute mark and chooses the road less traveled. Bellafonte seems to like tropical sounding musical arrangements, and the latter part of this tune has a "shadows on a cooling moonlit beach" vibe. That's a vibe, right?

The Elbow Room had plenty of elbow room, but that didn't stop Zsa Zsa Ketzner and Bellafonte from delivering.

Saturday, Aug. 2, while driving east on Pawnee toward the relatively new live music venue, the Elbow Room, I was told to look for the Pony's Club sign.

An old, unlit sign for a place that no longer exists may not be the best landmark to direct potential fans towards a venue, yet some still showed up.

Soleb Theory is a self-described speed-funk band that has been at it since 2010, but it didn't really pick up speed until 2012.

Soleb Theory's sound can be described as punk, reggae, grind, funk and groove metal. It has been influenced by everyone from Mr. Bungle to Los Tetas; still though, many may label it too simply with a term — ska — that has too much prejudice in Wichita.
