Bill Maher to perform at Century II this September

Bill Maher will be performing at Century II on Sept. 12.

Comedian Bill Maher will perform at Wichita’s Century II Concert Hall on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Maher is best known for his show on HBO Real Time with Bill Maher (and its virtually identical predecessor Politically Incorrect that was on ABC). Real Time has, in its 13 years on the air, been nominated for 18 Emmys. Politically Incorrect was nominated 16 times in its nine year run. Maher finally won his first Emmy last year for producing the HBO special Vice, which was in the same category as Real Time.

The show will be almost 11 months after he said, "'Sam Brownback.' I know, sounds like a gay, black porn star. But no, he is the governor of Kansas."

The liberal comedian has said in the past that he enjoys performing in red states. In his act, he has said, "I know that everywhere there are smart, progressive, free thinking people that are just surrounded by a bunch of rednecks. I understand that."

Tickets to the show go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday. They willl cost $79, $64 and $54 and will be available at the WichitaTIX box office inside Century II at 225 W. Douglas, by phone at (316) 219-4849 and online at http://www.wichitatix.com.
